Sail Away from the Top Ports in Florida

Ports with easy access to the Caribbean and beyond. If you are among the 25 million passengers that cruise each year, you’ll probably sail out of one of Florida’s five ports of call. With the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean on either side of the state, it’s easy to hop aboard the best cruise ships from the Florida Panhandle down to Miami.

The Port of Miami is considered to be the busiest port in the world. With an average of five million passengers each year, most cruise lines dock here making it much more affordable to cruise. Set on Biscayne Bay, PortMiami is known as the “Cruise Capital of the World," and is served by cruise lines like Disney, Carnival, Azamara, Norwegian, and more.

Port Canaveral on the eastern Florida coast in Cape Canaveral and Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale are the next busiest ports respectively. Port Canaveral is a great option for those planning to visit Orlando or Cocoa Beach, and then sailing out to explore the world. Some popular Cruise lines utilizing Port Canaveral include Carnival, Disney, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and more.

For those in the north Florida region, you don't have to head south to enjoy a fun-filled cruising journey.  The Port of Jacksonville or JAXPORT is located along the St. Johns River and includes the Mayport ferry and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Port Everglades Cruise Terminal

Port Everglades Cruise Terminal is the busiest cruise port in Florida and the third busiest cruise port worldwide. With 33 available berths, the port handles over 3.5 million cruise passengers each year.

Port Canaveral

One of the world’s busiest cruise ports, Port Canaveral is a port set on the eastern Florida coast in Cape Canaveral near Cocoa. Port of Tampa Bay

Opened in 1924, the Port of Tampa is one of many attractive and interesting sites in Tampa. When you've got a cruise on your next vacation agenda, head for the Port of Tampa Bay and find your adventure. Originally known as the Port of Tampa, it was January of 2014 when the name was changed to Port of Tampa Bay.

Many people flock to Tampa because of the cruise ships – the Port of Tampa Bay is a hub for major cruise lines like Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Holland America Line. You'll find three separate cruise terminals at the Port of Tampa Bay. The Port of Tampa Bay also serves container ships.

Port of Jacksonville

Opened in 1963, the Port of Jacksonville, or JAXPORT, serves cruise lines, ferry services, cargo ships, and other seaport traffic near Jacksonville. The port is located along the St. Johns River, featuring cargo facilities on Blount Island, Talleyrand, and Dames Point.

Passenger services utilizing JAXPORT include the Mayport ferry and Carnival Cruise Lines. The JAXPORT Cruise Terminal is located near Dames Point Bridge in northeast Florida.

PortMiami

Set on Biscayne Bay, PortMiami is a cargo and cruise port located in southern Florida within Miami. PortMiami is known as the “Cruise Capital of the World" and the "Cargo Gateway of the Americas."

On an annual basis, the Port of Miami transports more than four million passengers and over seven million tons of cargo. Set on Dodge Island, PortMiami is served by cruise lines like Disney, Carnival, Azamara, Norwegian, and more.
