Best Road Trips in North Dakota

History and scenery compete for your eye during these North Dakota road trips. From the former stomping grounds of Lewis & Clark and Teddy Roosevelt to the attractions of Bismarck, Minot, and Fargo, you'll not find a dull moment in the Peace Garden State.

Hit the Old Red Trail for fun in Fargo, Bismarck, Dickinson, and the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Stop by the North Dakota State University for college sports, or the Fargo-Moorhead Visitors Center for the Fargo Walk Of Fame or the iconic Wood Chipper Exhibit – not for the weak-stomached. Other fun stops on this route include the North Dakota State Capitol, Painted Canyon Visitor Center, and Dakota Dinosaur Museum – and be sure to sneak in Salem Sue.

For you L&C lovers, follow in their footsteps and check out the Lewis & Clark Riverboat, Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, Lewis & Clark Trail Museum, and Lewis & Clark State Park. And if you've yet to explore Minot, don't miss the Scandinavian Heritage Park and the Dakota Territory Air Museum – and of course the famed International Peace Garden.
